all in a day's work....

while following a couple of volunteers canvas a neighborhood to register voters and hand out informational materials in conjunction with the Walk for Obama events taking place across the nation Saturday, we got stuck on one home porch as a torrential downpour suddenly rolled through. While there, I figured I may as well try to make some features.

i know, i know, kids and animals, but i still like it!

the family watches the rain come down while the girl braids extensions into her mother's hair

and later that day....

so, this was pretty surreal and crazy....a co-worker told us about a wedding happening last Saturday - her son was the best man....it was going to be a "redneck wedding," she said. Not knowing exactly what to expect, I headed out there that afternoon - out in the country to a farm along the creek - or "crick" if you're gonna say it right. to sum up, the boutonnieres were mini buck's head pins, there was a lot of camouflage, there was A LOT of Bud Light, shotguns were involved, a pretty drunk groom shouting across the farm to his bride, staying out of sight in a barn - "c'mon baby, let's git r' done!!" oh yeah, and a mule (the vehicle, not the animal). They got r done alright!

the bridal party arrives on the farm

Randy, the groom, stays in his barn so as not to see his bride, but keeps his beer hidden behind his back anyway - the groomsmen having told the bride that he'd been cut off a while ago. They'd been drinking since morning, and he was pretty far gone by the time the ceremony got underway.

A last shout of "Let's git r done!!!" and the couple ride off toward the reception. At top left is the minister, who pretty much bolted for her car as soon as the i do's were over.

haha! Wow! What a wedding! Looks like it was a fun event to shoot. I love the shot of the groom leaning against the door frame. I think you captured the "gritty theme" really well. Yay Kim'r, how fun!!
